Summer 2025- The Crucible by Arthur Miller
$450.00

For New Work’s first ever educational play we are doing Arthur Miller’s classic- The Crucible. This exciting drama about the Puritan purge of witchcraft in old Salem is both a gripping historical play and a timely parable of our contemporary society. The story tells how small lies – children’s lies – build and build until the suspicions of a whole town is aroused. Set in a small tight-knit community, personal grievances collide with lust and superstition, fuelling widespread hysteria. Arthur Miller’s timeless parable attacks the evils of mindless persecution and the terrifying power of false accusations. Join this gripping play for a summer of gripping educational theatre!

Fall 2025- Cabaret: 1998 Version
$450.00

Overview

Bienvenu, welcome to New Works’ Fall 2025 musical! We are inviting artists ages 14 and up to join us in retelling this timeless and important musical Cabaret: 1998 version. In a Berlin hotspot- The Kit Kat Klub- the 1920s draw to a close, a Master of Ceremonies welcomes us in with one promise β€œforget all your troubles- here life is beautiful!”

Show Summary

This musical masterfully flips between revelry and reality as we follow two love stories: Cliff, a young American writer newly arrived in Berlin and an English singer Sally Bowles and FrΓ€ulein Schneider, proprietor of Cliff and Sally’s boarding house who tentatively begins a romance with Herr Schultz, a mild-mannered fruit seller who happens to be Jewish. With the Emcee’s gaudy and seemly carefree cabaret numbers as wry commentary to the human relationships they consistently mirror, Cabaret explores the dark, heady and tumultuous life of Berlin’s locals and visitors as Germany slowly yields to the emerging Third Reich- and what it means to be a human being trying to survive war, love, and prejudice at any age.
